What we measure

To understand how the site is used we keep simple, aggregated visit statistics. For each page view we record only:

• which page was viewed and when;
• a random, per-visit id (so page views in one visit can be grouped) — it is not linked to you and is discarded when your browser session ends;
• your browser's preferred language and region, read from the standard Accept-Language header (e.g. nl-NL → Dutch / NL).

What we do not collect

• No IP address is stored in these visit statistics — page views are not tied to your address at all. (Downloads and the contact form are separate; see below.)
• No names, emails or other personal data from your visit.
• No third-party analytics, advertising or social-media trackers.
• The "country" shown to us is derived from your browser's language setting — a preference, not geolocation of your device.

There is no third party in the picture either: the standard layout files (Bootstrap and its icon font) used to be fetched from the jsDelivr content delivery network, which meant that network saw your IP address. They are now served from pasguard.com itself, so your browser talks to nobody but us.

Downloads and the contact form

Two actions do record your IP address, because they are the ones that get abused:

• Downloading the trial. We log the time, which build you fetched, your IP address and your browser's user-agent string. This is an anti-abuse and anti-hotlinking measure and is also what tells us how many real downloads a release gets.
• Sending the contact form. Your name, email, optional company, chosen plan and message are stored so your enquiry is not lost if mail delivery fails, together with your IP address as spam protection. They are used only to answer you.

Neither log can be reached over the web, and neither is shared or sold. The download log is capped in size and purged by a scheduled job that deletes entries older than its retention window (180 days by default), so IP addresses there are not kept indefinitely; contact enquiries are kept for as long as we may need them to handle your request. To limit abuse we also count requests per visitor for short periods (rate limiting) — those counters store the address only as a one-way hash and expire by themselves.

Cookies

This site uses a single functional cookie — a standard PHP session cookie. It holds the random per-visit id while you browse, and, where relevant, the answer to the contact form's puzzle and the token that lets you fetch a download. It contains no personal data, is not shared, and expires when you close your browser. Because it is strictly functional and used only for privacy-friendly, first-party measurement, no cookie-consent banner is required under the GDPR/ePrivacy rules. The notice you see on your first visit is therefore informational rather than a consent gate — dismissing it changes nothing about what we collect. Your choices

You can block or delete cookies in your browser at any time; the site keeps working without them — page views simply stop being grouped into a visit. Note that blocking cookies on its own does not remove you from the counts, because a view is recorded whether or not the cookie is there.

To be left out entirely, send a Do Not Track (DNT: 1) or Global Privacy Control (Sec-GPC: 1) signal from your browser. We honour both: nothing at all is recorded for that visit — no page view, no reading time.
